Community Service

The Orland Park Rotary Club is active in the community.  Its members are involved in more community activities probably than any other community service group.  On of the key community programs is the Rotary Scholarship Program.  Funded through the annual raffle, it raises over $40,000 for college scholarships for local area senior high-school students.  In addition, the Club in the past 4 years sponsored a Golf Marathon for Hope Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn.  That event raised raises over $22,000 for that cause.  The Club also works the weekly Bingo charity game in Orland Park.  In addition, the Club distributes about $10,000 for other community groups and causes.  In 2005, the Rotary Centennial Year, the Orland Park Rotary Club sponsored the rebuilding of the Animal Barn at the Children's Farm at The Center in Palos Park to view pictures of the progress click here

The Orland Park Rotary Club annually awards five $2,500 scholarships to graduating seniors of area high schools, including students attending parochial schools who reside within the Orland Park Rotary Club boundaries. The Orland Park Rotary Scholarships are made possible through the fund raising efforts of its members, some 60 + men and women, who reside or whose business is located in the community. The territorial boundaries of the Orland Park Rotary Club are the Cal Sag Channel (North), 183rd Street (South), Cicero Avenue (East) and Will Cook Road (West), excluding the corporate limits of Tinley Park and Oak Forest.

The student recipient may be either male or female who excels academically, as well as one who has enthusiastically participated in extracurricular activities to the extent possible considering family circumstances. This student should be committed to a four year course of study in an accredited college or university.

In addition, it is requested that the Orland Park Rotary Scholarship be the only local monetary award being received by the student in the way of scholarship funds.

The application process must be completed by March 20, 2008 in conjunction with the individual school counselor responsible for scholarships. Please contact your school counselor for the application and timeline requirements.
